Students are asked to bring one current events article (from Internet, newspaper, magazine, etc) to school each Wednesday beginning this week, September 1. We will use the articles with our "In the News" assignment and the articles will give us a chance to talk about current happenings in the world around us. Your child will complete the "In the News" handout in class by the following Wednesday. All of these items will be written on the Assignment Board and discussed!
Book Club summaries are due again next week: One 5th grade paragraph (has at least 5 sentences--topic sentence, three detail sentences, and one concluding sentence). Typed or written is fine. If you would like to write more than one paragraph, I strongly encouarge you to do so. Remember, you MUST read 90 minutes before you can begin your summary! That is the individual goal for each student. That # will change soon, so enjoy it while it last!
We will have a math test over Unit 1 on Wednesday this week. I strongly encourage students to use their study links pages (if not already complete) to practice the skills we've learned about in class. I will see about sending a study guide home on Monday, as we have a spelling test on Wednesday, too. However, we will review as we've done for two weeks, prior to the test.
